Northstar V3: Student Files

Introduction

The Student Files feature allows users to upload, review, and manage documents associated with a student record. This centralized file management tool supports documentation tracking, verification workflows, and easy access to important student materials directly within Northstar.

Getting Started

The Student Files page can be accessed from the Student section of the navigation.

To upload a document, select Choose Files and locate the file you wish to upload from your device.

Once the file is selected, a confirmation banner will indicate that the upload was successful. The newly uploaded file will appear in the Student Files list with a red status indicator, identifying it as a new file.

Selecting a file opens an action window that allows you to:

  • Set or update the file status
  • Add comments
  • Download or open the file
  • Remove the file

This window also displays helpful file properties, including the upload date and the user who uploaded the file.

File Status and Organization

The file status feature allows users to assign a status of OK or Pending to each file. This is particularly useful during verification processes or when additional review is required.

  • OK files are indicated with a green status
  • Pending files are indicated with a yellow status

File are automatically grouped based on their status to help users quickly identify which documents require attention. The Files navigation panel also displays file counts by status for each student.

Removed files remain visible in the file list for reference purposes. However, once a file is removed, it can only be viewed and cannot be edited.

Conclusion

The Student Files feature provides a reliable and organized way to manage student documentation within Northstar Version 3. By combining clear status indicators, file metadata, and built-in actions, users can efficiently track, verify, and maintain student records.
