Retakes

    • The Retakes feature that was previously available to preview in the ‘Beta’ version of the app, is now included in the main app. Previously shared instructions are appended to the end of this document.

Course Sign-Off (re:DAVISTECH)

    • Added a new flag to the ‘Transcript Grade’ options to allow specific grades to prevent Credit issuance. Currently, the ‘Prevent Credits’ flag is turned off by default. Since there is not a full form for managing Grades, please let us know which grades/if any you would like to be updated with this flag (eg. F).  
    • Before setting the flag, we will check if there are any previously issued credits for that grade code and work with you to resolve them as needed.
    • When ‘Prevent Credits’ is set for a Grade, it will display with a new “no CR" column and tool-tip on the Course Sign-Off form, as seen here:

Class Roll (re:OTECH)

    • Added an optional setting that can enable Student Warnings to be displayed when selecting students in the list. By default, the setting is turned off (previous behavior). To enable, select the new “Allow Student Flags in Class Roll” option in Admin Settings. Note: this selection applies college-wide and users will need to restart the application for the new setting to take effect in their app.

Courses (re:OTECH)

    • Added a Search option to the Canvas course field.  
      • Previously, when assigning a canvas course in Northstar, the full list of courses from Canvas would be loaded each time, causing unnecessary delays.  
      • Now, you can enter a search term to search for courses to quickly select which course you want to assign. The search also shows only ‘available’ courses that haven’t been removed in Canvas.
        • Note: searching with an empty filter will load all ‘available’ courses, similar to before.

Portal

    • Fixed an error that could prevent students from seeing their schedule displayed on their calendar. (re:TOOELETECH)
    • Fixed an error that could lead to an error page when logging in.

[E] – Fees Not Charged Since (re: DIXIETECH)

    • Renamed the parameters to “Not Charged Since” and “Fee Stops After”; replacing the previous “Since” and “Expires After” options.
    • The report is meant to help identify fees that are no longer in active use so that they can be retired. In the screenshot below, it will list fees that are still current in 2026, but weren’t used in the last two years. 

    • Added columns to identify the details of when, and to whom, the fee was last charged:
      • StudentLastChargedFrom (DATE)
      • StudentLastChargedTo (DATE)
      • StudentLastCharged (DATE)
      • Student ID (TEXT)

General Ledger (re:DIXIETECH)

    • Improve performance when loading previous results

[E] – Tuition Items (new) (re:OTECH)

    • Added a new report to help identify distributions of Credit and non-Credit charges for courses. It lists all tuition invoices for students within the specified period. Notable columns include Course Credits (empty for non-Credit courses), as well as indicators for if the charge is Tuition Exempt  or has a Tuition Exception. 


Course Retakes

    • Added new functionality to allow multiple transcript records for a single course. This preserves

      completion history of each attempt.

    • When multiple transcripts exist, each completed transcript may be configured to show on the

      transcript report with or without the transcript grade.

      • The course must be configured to show on transcript before the transcript can be configured.
      • The same is true for including the transcript grade.

Course Sign-Off

    • Added an indicator with tooltips showing quick information about the current and archived

      transcripts.

    • New Remove button inactivates the current transcript record preserving the history. Removed

      transcripts are not discoverable within Northstar.

    • New Archive button marks the current transcript as archived preserving the history. Archived

      transcripts are discoverable in the Transcript History dropdown.

      • Note: No edits are allowed to archived transcripts.

    • New Transcript History dropdown allows for the selection of the desired transcript.
      • If an archived transcript is selected and no current transcript exists then the box may be

        cleared with the x. The reload button at bottom of the form also works.

      • A current transcript cannot be deselected. Only one current transcript is allowed at a time.

    • New Show on Transcript checkbox used to configure showing the transcript on the report.
      • Note: the course must first be configured to allow showing on the transcript.
    • New Include Grade checkbox used to configure the transcript grade calculating in the report

      GPA.

      • Note: the course must first be configured to allow the grade to be included.

[R] - Transcript

    • New indicator ‘R’ shows that the record is a retake.
    • Multiple transcript records for the same course may be shown
      • Course ‘Show on Transcript’ enabled
      • If multiple transcript records, then check transcript ‘Show on Transcript’
    • The grade may be configured to show or be excluded.
      • Course ‘Include Grade’ enabled
      • If multiple transcript records, then check transcript ‘Include Grade’
      • Note: The second and last row shows ‘M’ as the grade because ‘Include Grade’ is

        disabled for that archived transcript.

[R] - Completion Evaluation

    • New indicator ‘R’ shows that a course has previous attempts.
    • Only the most recent transcript record is shown on the report.
